In a full 3D game, the player and camera move freely in every direction. It feels immersive, but it costs more in performance and level design.

2.5D games use 3D models, but gameplay happens on a fixed plane or through a constrained camera, such as an isometric view. The result is rich visual depth with simple controls and lighter performance on mid-range phones.

When we pick each one

  • 3D: flight, racing and exploration games.
  • 2.5D: puzzles, platformers and strategy.
